In 2020, I was discovering for the first time the island. The main idea was to explore slowly what the place was offering. The local culture is giving a pleasant overview of what could be the life here with local people. Life seems to be followed smoothly, this is making a nice atmsophere, good start to spend a relaxing journey on the island.

Relaxing is nice, but La Réunion has a very beautiful nature, it was then impossible to avoid the hikes in the moutains. Going to the Piton des Neiges was “mandotory” to get the highest view of the island. This time the wether was very harsh, photography was then abandonned, but this didn’t make me go back before reaching the summit at 3069m !

After this adventure, the volcano (Piton de la Fournaise) was also a place to go when visiting the island, this time we have been luckier and then we could spent a sunny day from morning to sunset hiking and chilling around.

The rest of the activities was dedicated to explore the nature in which some beautiful waterfalls, rivers and natural pools are just giving some very attractive swims !.

The next year in 2021, spending more time down, close to the sea, I could go around the island and walk along the coasts. I could then have some nice sea sights and beautiful and colorful sunsets almost every day (of course a few hikes were on the list).

Unfortunately, one of my objectives is still incomplete, indeed, I did not have the chance to observe the chameleon locally called “endormi” meaning “asleep” due to its very low speed when moving. They do not appear anytime in the year, during some periods, they can be hidden and difficult to find.

The island of La Réunion is small in size but it would take so many time to explore it deeply. From the sea to the mountains, a huge amount of beautiful places are still to be discovered !
